The West End Grill is a no-frills bar and grill in Hammonton where you can have a casual drink one hour and an impromptu dance party the next.

On weekdays, locals are scattered throughout the bar, having beers over bar food or making small talk with the bartenders. On weekend evenings, the space is packed with mostly young people beckoning the bartenders for shots.

The establishment is made up of a small, L-shaped interior with a horseshoe-shaped bar and two main, slightly divided rooms. There's also a separate room for private parties, able to accommodate parties of approximately 40.

Owners Edmond Johnson and Andrew Amendolia took over the business in '97 and they've put a focus on food, Johnson says, with a goal of creating a family-friendly establishment. Johnson is the head chef and he takes great pride in his cuisine.

"I'm always changing things up and coming up with different ideas to put on the menu," he says.

House favorites include hot wings smothered in "Eddie's special sauce," homemade mac and cheese topped in a buttery and crispy crumb layer and Johnson's specialty sandwiches, salads and burgers, all of which are made to order. Stop by for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner for some better-than-usual grub.
