If you're spending time in Avalon, it's safe to say you're going to end up at The Whitebrier Restaurant at some point, probably more than once.
Whether you're looking for a post-beach happy hour with live music, a casual dining atmosphere or a nightclub scene with DJs and dancing, The Whitebrier Restaurant has you covered.
The Whitebrier is really made up of three distinctive spaces, as general manager John Tracy Jr. points out: The Motorboat Club, The Octopus Garden and The Mermaid Cafe.
The Motorboat Club is the restaurant's main dining room, featuring a full bar with 20 rotating beers on tap and live music on Friday, Saturday and Wednesday nights. Families also are welcome, too, with Kids Karaoke hosted every Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m., the prelude to the adult DJ dance party from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. that night.
The dining menu is made up of classic seashore fare, Tracy says, including its popular sushi menu. Stop by on Sushi Sundays for its buy one, get one half-off sushi roll special.
"We've been voted the island's best sushi," he says.
The second space, The Octopus Garden, is the spacious outdoor portion of the restaurant, a great space for dining or drinking in the sun or for a short escape from the dance floor in the evenings for fresh air and conversation.
The last room, The Mermaid Cafe, is the liveliest of the bunch, hosting The Whitebrier's popular post-beach happy hour on Saturdays, voted the best happy hour at the shore, offering $1 off all drinks and no cover from 4 to 7 p.m., and DJs on weekend nights.
"It's becoming more of a nightclub scene at night," Tracy says.
