The Blue Water Grille Bar & Restaurant at Wildwood’s Bolero Resort and Conference Center might seem like a place made for vacationers, but its main purpose is to serve the locals.

The restaurant and bar is known for regularly hosting benefit events for locals, including two scheduled this weekend — a Friday benefit to celebrate the life of Wildwood resident and well-known DJ Sloan Harper, who passed away last month, and FreeZa-PoLooZA VI, an annual benefit honoring Cape May County residents in need Saturday.

The Sloan Harper benefit will take place 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, and will include an open-mic session for spoken word and a capella verses and music by DJ Dave Mass and Stellar Mojo. Tickets are $25, and all proceeds will be donated to Sloan Harper’s family for funeral costs.

FreeZa-PoLooZA will take place 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Jan. 25. This year’s honorees are a few county residents who are currently battling brain cancer — 6 year old Kanen “HurriKanen” Keating, of Swainton, and 27 year old Genny Lynn Farnan of West Cape May, as well as a teacher’s aide at the Atlantic City Special Services School District.

The event will also feature live music by Fuzzybone, which is made up from members of the popular bands Funny Bone and The Fuzzy Bunny Slippers from the 1990s and 2000s, Loud ’n Clear and Donkey Punch.

Tickets are $20 in advance and available at LunchWithLynch.com/rockfest. Tickets are $25 at the door.

The Blue Water Grille also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a late-night menu and a full bar surrounded by several wall-mounted TVs.

The bar carries a wide assortment of beer, wine, champagne and a ton of cocktails with adventurous selections such as decadent chocolate martinis, blueberrytinis and cherry bombs.

Daily happy hour is from 3 to 6 p.m. and includes food and drink specials.

Live entertainment:
