PHILDELPHIA - The Eagles recovered from a terrible offensive start to grab a 7-6 lead over Detroit Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.
Quarterback Michael Vick threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to running back LeSean McCoy with 1 minute, 16 seconds left in the half to give the Eagles their one-point edge.
The TD capped a 79-yard, 9-play drive that also featured a 26-yard pass interference penalty on Lions cornerback Jacob Lacey that advanced the Eagles to the 3-yard line.
The Lions took a 6-0 lead on a pair of field goals by place-kicker Jason Hanson while the Eagles' offense got off to a sloppy start.
They committed two turnovers in the first half via a botched snap by center Dallas Reynolds and Vick's seventh interception of the season.
One drive late in the first quarter. ended when Reynolds inadvertently snapped the football while Vick was still signaling to his wide receivers. Vick's interception occurred when he overthrew wide receiver Jason Avant. Lions safety Louis Delmas notched Detroit's first interception of the season.
Eagles coach Andy Reid pulled a surprise before the game by deactivating punt returner Damaris Johnson. Mardy Gilyard handled the first three punts of the first half, then DeSean Jackson went back near the end of the second quarter, but lost 3 yards on a return.
