BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Philadelphia Eagles decided to add some depth to their secondary at the expense of their linebacker corps Thursday.
They worked another trade with Indianapolis, sending linebackers Moise Fokou and Greg Lloyd to the Colts in exchange for cornerback Kevin Thomas and a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2012 NFL draft.
They also made a trade with the Colts earlier in training camp. They acquired defensive tackle Ollie Ogbu on July 22 for cornerback D.J. Johnson. Indianapolis' general manager is Ryan Grigson, who spent 2004-2011 in the Eagles' personnel department. The Colts' roster currently includes two former Eagles in tackle Winston Justice and center A.Q. Shipley.
"Obviously, that relationship helps and we are able to talke about things," Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said Thursday in a conference call. "We know that we will shoot each other straight because he (Grigson) is one of my closest friends."
Thomas, 6-foot and 192 pounds, started five games and played in nine for the Colts last season with 33 tackles and five passes defensed. A third-round draft pick in 2010 from USC, he missed his entire rookie season after suffering a knee injury during a minicamp.
