PHILADELPHIA - The Eagles' offensive line has lost another starter.
Right tackle Todd Herremans is expected to be placed on injured reserve later today after suffering an ankle tendon injury in Monday's 28-13 loss at New Orleans.
Although the team hasn't made an official announcement, center/guard Julian Vandervelde revealed that he has been promoted from the practice squad to the 53-player active roster.
"I have no idea what my role will be," Vandervelde said. "But I'm ready to do whatever they need me to do."
Herremans will become the fourth member of the starting offensive line to miss at least one game this season because of injury.
Left tackle Jason Peters has yet to play this season after suffering a ruptured Achilles' tendon during the offseason. Center Jason Kelce tore two knee ligaments in the second game of the season and was placed on IR. Right guard Danny Watkins has missed the last two games with a chronic ankle injury.
Now that Herremans is hurt, that leaves LG Evan Mathis as the only starter who has not missed any playing time.
"It's getting to be kind of like a 'Final Destination' thing," Mathis said. "I hope I don't get hit by a bus."
