Eagles quarterback Michael Vick got tired of hearing running back LeSean McCoy run his mouth and decided to run with his feet.
According to various Twitter accounts, Vick answered McCoy's repeated challenge by smoking him in a 40-yard dash Thursday during an offseason workout at the NovaCare Complex.
Vick, who turns 33 next month, claimed on Twitter to easily beat his 24-year-old teammate.
"So today at the field 1 of my teammates called me old and begged to race me in the 40 yd dash," Vick Tweeted. "Anybody want to guess which player?"
He later added, "beat him by a few yards too lol."
Word quickly spread around the league. Former Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel, now with Atlanta, Tweeted to McCoy: "Say it ain't so little bro" before removing the post.
McCoy protested the results, claiming that Vick "jumped early" and vowed to have a rematch on Monday, but it probably won't happen.
Vick indicated in another tweet that "FYI there won't be any more races at the facility. We're focused on this upcoming season. We need to get back to playing Eagles football. DONE."
Vick is involved in a tougher race to become the Eagles' starting quarterback this season. He is one of five quartersbacks on the roster, along with Nick Foles, Dennis Dixon, G.J. Kinne and rookie Matt Barkley, who the Eagles drafted in the fourth round last weekend.
By the way, Vick is not the fastest player on the Eagles. That honor belongs to wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
