Former Eagles offensive lineman Danny Watkins is close to signing with Miami.

The Miami Herald, CBSSports.com and NFL.com all reported Tuesday morning that Watkins will be signing a one-year contract to be a backup offensive lineman for the Dolphins.

Watkins, the Eagles' first-round draft pick in 2011, cleared waivers after getting cut by the Eagles on Saturday and had a tryout with the Dolphins on Monday.

Watkins will be the fourth player to sign with a Florida NFL team in the last few days after attending training camp with the Eagles.  Tight end Clay Harbor and linebacker Chris McCoy were both claimed off waivers by Jacksonville. Wide receiver Russell Shepard was claimed by Tampa Bay.

In addition, wide receiver Marvin McNutt, who spent last season on the Eagles' practice squad, was signed to the Dolphins' practice squad Monday. McNutt cut by the Dolphins on Saturday.
