Somers Point middleweight Patrick Majewski earned the most important victory of his boxing career late Saturday night.

Majewski (17-0, 11 KOs) won the NABO title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Marcus Upshaw (13-6-1, 6 KOs), of Jacksonville, Fla., at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss.

Majewski's manager and co-trainer, Arnold Robbins, said in a phone interview late Saturday that the 31-year-old fighter will now be ranked in the top 15 of the WBO world ratings.

"I feel great, but it hasn't set in, yet," Majewski said in a statement after the fight. ""Upshaw was a very tough opponent, but I was more than ready for this one.

"I got clocked a few times, but I kept my composure and made sure to hit him back stronger every time."

Majewski, a native of Radom, Poland,  scored knockdowns in the fifth and sixth rounds en route to pitching a shutout on the judges' scorecards.
