The Education Law Center is heading back to the state Supreme Court in its battle with the state over funding for children in the 31 urban districts commonly known as the Abbotts.

The center is asking the court to enforce its May 2009 Abbott decision upholding the State's funding formula, the School Funding Reform Act of 2008, or SFRA.

In that ruling, the Court allowed the SFRA to go into effect but said the formula must be fully funded.  The Governor's propoosed budget cuts state funding below the levels required by the SFRA formula in 2010-11.

In a press relase, the ELC said the action was initiated after the Attorney General declined efforts by their lawyers to discuss the State's voluntary compliance with the Court's decision.
