The Keansburg school superintendent won't get the $556,290 severance payout that triggered statewide indignation about such agreements.

The state Department of Education announced Friday that it had reached a settlement with Barbara Trzeszkowski.  She will get a so-called nuisance payment of $50,000 to help cover a portion of her legal fees.  She is also still entitled to the $184,000 worth of unused vacation and sick days she accrued over her long career in the district, plus annual pension payments of $103,889.

A new law would limit accrued sick day payouts to $15,000 and vacation leave can be carried over for just one year.
