School choice bill back again

A bill to expand the public school choice program is alive again in the state Legislature.

BillĀ A355, sponsored by Mila Jasey (D-Essex) and Joan Voss (D-Bergen) would allow any public school district in the state to apply to become a choice school and accept students from other districts.

The bill is already scheduled for discussion before the Assembly Education Committee Thursday, the same day new Education Commissioner Bret Schundler is schuduled to present his education plan. Both Voss and Jasey serve on the committee.
