South Carolina State's Khalif Toombs of Atlantic City, center, fights his way between Missouri's Earnest Ross, right, and Jabari Brown, left, during the second half Monday in Columbia, Mo.
Former Atlantic City High School basketball star Khalif Toombs has not had an easy job the past few years.
Toombs plays point guard for South Carolina State, which has won just 18 games over the past three seasons.
But Toombs has managed to impress with his play despite the team’s struggles.
MidMajority.com recently posted a blog entry praising the diminutive Toombs — who is listed at 5-foot-9 — for his tenacity and heart.
Blogger Daniel Spewak writes that Toombs “always seemed to disrupt his opponent and seemed to have total and complete command of his basketball team.”
