Max Talbot will have a new number for the Philadelphia Flyers next season.

Talbot, who wore No. 27 in his first year with the team, announced Thursday on Twitter that he will switch to No. 25, which was vacated when Matt Carle left as a free agent to sign with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

"For all those (or the) fan(s) who bought my jersey with #27 last year, stay tune, I’ll do a little fun promo starting the year!" Talbot posted on Twitter, showing some self-deprecating humor.

Talbot wore No. 25 for the first six seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins before signing with the Flyers a year ago.

Carle responded to the news with some self-deprecating humor of his own.

"I'm sure all of the countless Flyers fans that have my jersey can just switch the name plate #onlyneedonehandtocountthemall," Carle wrote on Twitter. "Btw...that's not a shot at Flyers fans, merely recognizing that my jersey wasn't the most popular and having a laugh about it #itwasajoke."
