Middle Township High School graduate Garret Kerr was named an NCAA Division II men’s basketball second-team All-American by a panel of Division II sports information directors Thursday.

Kerr, sophomore forward for University of the Sciences, was the only non-senior on the first, second or third team.

He is the first University of the Sciences player ever to earn an NCAA All-American honor. The program’s last All-American at any level was Jason Wood, who was an NAIA honorable mention selection in 2001.

Kerr also became the first player from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference to be earn the honor since Bloomfield’s Gage Daye in 2011.

Kerr led the nation in Division II with 12.4 rebounds per game and was 19th with 21.1 points per game.
