Ryan Truex is back in a NASCAR Nationwide Series car this week at Richmond International Raceway, and while it’s not with his usual Joe Gibbs Racing team, he expects to run up front.
The Stafford Township native, who finished fourth last year at Richmond, will drive for RAB Racing. He drove for RAB in one race earlier this season and also will drive for the team in Dover, Del., later this month. Truex also has driven for Joe Gibbs Racing and Tommy Baldwin Racing this year.
"I'm happy to be back with RAB Racing,” Truex said in quotes provided this week by MTJ Motorsports, which is owned by his brother, Martin Jr. “We ran well at Texas, and this team has had strong runs here at Richmond before.”
Indeed, Kenny Wallace finished fifth for RAB last year at Richmond.
“I don't see why we can't bring home a top-five on Friday,” Truex said. “(Crew chief) Scott Zipadelli and I get along well and have brought home great finishes in the past. I think we have a good shot to get a strong finish on Friday night."
