Stafford Township native Ryan Truex announced Monday on Twitter that he will race in Saturday’s NASCAR Trucks Series race at Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, Va.

Truex, 20, wrote that he was “very excited” about what will be his first career Trucks Series race. The two-time K&N Pro Series East champion is in his second season as a part-time Nationwide Series driver.

The Nationwide Series does not race this week. The Sprint Cup Series races Sunday at Martinsville.

Truex said he will drive the No. 27 truck for Hillman Racing. The race will be televised live on Speed at 1:30 p.m.

Truex will be the 10th driver to get behind the wheel of the No. 27 this season. The car has entered all 18 races, with an average finish of 22.7. The car has two top-10 finishes, including an eighth in the season-opener at Daytona with former Cup driver Ward Burton driving. Cole Whitt finished 13th in the No. 27 last week.
