St. Augustine Prep graduate Josh Thompson was featured on Fox College Sports in a segment during halftime of the Wagner College men’s basketball team’s win over Mount St. Mary’s on Wednesday night.

Thompson, a senior from Bridgeton, gained national fame last season when he dunked over his mother, Diane, during Wagner’s Madness Before Midnight event. He followed that by dunking over both his parents in this season’s event.

Wednesday’s segment, produced by NEC-TV, featured video of both dunks, as well as Thompson telling the story behind them. The inspiration was former Philadelphia 76ers star Darryl Dawkins’ “Yo Momma” dunk.

Thompson also discussed his friendship with Wagner football star Dominique Williams, a Bridgeton High School graduate.

“He’s been like a brother to me since Day 1,” Thompson said. “We grew up together. We live down the street from each other.”

The segment closes with Thompson and coach Bashir Mason talking about leadership.

“He’s doing a great job of leading this year,” Mason said.

The segment could not have aired at a much better time. Thompson scored a season-high 10 points in the win over Mount St. Mary’s, and one of his two steals led to a momentum-shifting dunk.
