Some NASCAR drivers struggle on road courses, when they have to turn both ways rather than just driving around in circles.

Stafford Township native Martin Truex Jr. likes road courses and says he can win this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Sonoma, Calif.

"I really enjoy road-course racing and don't mind the extra right-hand turns,” Truex said in quotes provided this week by his team, Michael Waltrip Racing.

Truex has just one top-10 finish in six career Cup races in Sonoma, but it was just last year, when he finished eighth.

“The NAPA Toyota has always been fast there and last year, we ran second most of the day,” he said. “We just burnt up the tires at the end so it prevented us from finishing it off with a win. I am looking forward to going back there and having a great run.”
