Villanova University wide receiver Kenny Miles is expected to miss eight weeks with a Jones fracture in his foot, coach Andy Talley said during a conference call Monday.

Miles, a senior who starred at Buena Regional High School, hurt the foot in the second week of training camp but had been trying to play through it. When that didn’t work out, he planned to have surgery, a Villanova spokesperson said.

Miles had been expected to be a significant contributor this year. He started six of 11 games last season and had 13 catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns.

His absence and that of Dorian Wells, who suffered the same injury, will put more pressure on the rest of the receivers, including St. Joseph graduate Norman White and St. Augustine Prep alumnus Dustin Thomas.

“The receiver corps in general really needs to step up,” Talley said.
