Holy Spirit High School running backs Donta Pollock and Nigel Jones stand on the verge of an impressive milestone, according to Chuck Langerman, a long-time South Jersey football historian.

Pollock has 4,245 career rushing yards. Jones has 3,543 career rushing yards.

If Jones reaches 4,000, it will be the first time in state history that two backs on the same team have topped that milestone in the same season, according to Langerman.

Langerman in an email added that followers of high school sports around the country can't remember this happening on a  national level.

Jones and Pollock can add to their totals when Spirit (3-2) plays at Hammonton (5-0) on Friday at 7 p.m.

Hammonton is No. 4 in The Press Elite 11, while Spirit is No. 5.
