The field for the Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic will be announced Sunday.

The prestigious tournament features 16 of South Jersey’s top teams.

The leaders of the Cape-Atlantic League American and National conferences at the conclusion of Saturday’s game earn automatic invitations.

Teams can also earn at-large berths.

Here’s a breakdown of CAL teams in the running for bids:

St. Augustine Prep (10-4): The Hermits begin the week with a half-game lead over Vineland in the American Conference. St. Augustine will clinch a spot with wins over Hammonton today and Oakcrest on Thursday.

Buena Regional (13-2): The Chiefs lead the CAL National Conference with an 8-1 record. Ocean City is 6-1 with a win over Buena but the bid goes to the team with the best winning percentage. Buena can maintain its advantage with wins over Middle Township today, Bridgeton on Wednesday and  Cape May Tech on Thursday.

Ocean City (9-3): The Red Raiders are in contention for an at-large bid. The Red Raiders own a win over Buena but probably have to go undefeated this week – at St. Joseph today and home to Cedar Creek on Thursday and Hammonton on Friday - to stay in contention for a bid.

Vineland (10-3): The Fighting Clan also is in the running for an at-large bid. Vineland owns a win over Holy Spirit but lost to Buena Regional. Vineland plays at Mainland Regional today and Cedar Creek on Friday. Vineland and Buena Regional also meet again 7 p.m. Saturday at Vineland in a key game.
