Scotty Wins! Our American Idol blogger discusses this and other predictions that went wrong
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:13 pm

Silly me.

Tuesday 05/24/2011
Our American Idol blogger says Lauren Alaina picked the perfect time to blow out a vocal cord
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:13 pm

Kerri Strug's injured ankle in the 1996 Olympics. Curt Schilling's bloody sock in the 2004 World Series. And now Lauren Alaina's blown vocal cord just hours before the American Idol finale could enter the discussion of conspicuously timed injuries that were "overcome" during high-profile victories.

American Idol blog: The Top 3 only produced one "somewhat memorable" performance - was it Haley, Lauren, or Scotty?
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:13 pm

If you wanted any more proof that this year's crop of American Idol talent does not match up with those of year's past, the performances of Top 3 on Wednesday night were that proof.

American Idol blog: It has all come down to two country kiddies and a screamer - but which one?
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:13 pm

Well my "pity vote" prediction was correct, but I gave too much credit to the "rocker" voting base and not enough to the country voters.

American Idol Blog: The judges were harsh on Haley, but our blogger thinks someone else will go home
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:12 pm

According to Randy Jackson on Wednesday night, all four of the remaining American Idol contestants are "in it to win it" - whatever that is supposed to mean.

American Idol blog: Jacob Lusk's elimination saves this season from being the worst ever
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:12 pm

Whew!

Wednesday 05/04/2011
Our American Idol blogger says love doesn't hurt, Jacob Lusk's voice does
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:12 pm

If Jacob Lusk doesn't get eliminated this week, I'm going to trade in my television set for a bullet-proof vest and go back to Compton myself, if that's what it takes for me not to have to hear him sing anymore.

Our American Idol blogger hopes the Idol judges are still happy they saved Casey

Wednesday 04/20/2011
Our American Idol blogger says Wednesday night's episode was (bleep)
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:11 pm

Thanks in large part to Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler and record producer Jimmy Iovine, Wednesday night's episode of American Idol needed to rely heavily on sensors' "bleep" button.

American Idol blog: Snooki as the next Idol judge? At least she'd have something to say
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:10 pm

Thursday 04/07/2011
Our American Idol blogger says the judges should be "ashamed of themselves" that Pia went home
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:10 pm

The American Idol judges and voters should be ashamed of themselves.

Wednesday 04/06/2011
Our American Idol blogger says surprise song choices help four contestants stand out
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:10 pm

So when I saw that this week would be "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Week," I prepared myself for a night of air guitar and adrenaline-pumping performances. Steven Tyler's intro walking us back through rock and roll history with greats like Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix and - of course - Aerosmith only fueled my excitement.

Thursday 03/31/2011
Our American Idol blogger is happy that Thia Megia went home
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 4:10 pm

"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," "Goodbye Norma Jean," and goodbye Naima and Thia.

Thursday 03/17/2011
American Idol Blog: Karen goes home, but it should've been Naima
Updated: March 19, 2011 - 12:17 am

Sorry Idol Viewers - Season 10 will not be the year of the Latin American Idol. America chose to send home the Selena-loving Karen Rodriguez during Thursday night's results show, and the judges decided not to save her even after her swan song of Mariah Carey's "Hero" - sung, of course, in English and Spanish.

Wednesday 03/16/2011
Our American Idol blogger thinks everyone but Stefano, Scotty and Pia could be in trouble
Updated: March 17, 2011 - 10:18 pm

Nothing makes me feel old more than when the American Idol contestants sing songs from the years they were born, especially when I was able to drive to the store to buy some of the albums when they first came out.

Tuesday 03/01/2011
Our American Idol blogger calls the Top 12 male performances "painful"
Updated: December 30, 2011 - 5:26 pm

I have been to a "death metal" concert. I watched as Ashley Simpson resorted to an impromptu Irish jig after getting caught lip syncing on Saturday Night Live. And I have listened to my tone-deaf college roommate put Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" on repeat and sing along with it at the top of his lungs, through tears, for an entire weekend after having a fight with his girlfriend.

Friday 02/25/2011
American Idol's Top 24 is finally set and our blogger makes predictions
Updated: May 26, 2011 - 12:03 am

The American Idol producers rode the Jacee Badeaux story line as long as possible. But after the chubby 15-year-old was eliminated at the end of Thursday night's episode, it meant that this season's ridiculously drawn out audition process was finally over and the American Idol viewers will now have the power to do what this season's judges could not - make good decisions.

Wednesday 02/23/2011
Our American Idol blogger compares this season's auditions to having teeth pulled

American Idol blog: Judges' indecision sends 60 to Vegas
Updated: February 18, 2011 - 6:21 pm

It seems that without Simon Cowell on the dais, the American Idol judges are reluctant to give a judgment on anything.

American Idol blog: One contestant sounded like she was "gargling a mouth-full of Jell-O"
Updated: March 09, 2011 - 8:53 pm

The dogs in my neighborhood were barking and howling like crazy Wednesday night, as if football player Michael Vick was selling Encyclopedia Britannicas door-to-door.

Our blogger thinks DeWyze let the “Idol” crown slip away. Take our poll and let us know who you think will win.
Posted: May 26, 2010 - 6:30 am

Tuesday night could not have gone worse for Lee DeWyze, and it could cost him the American Idol crown that he was undoubtedly already getting fitted for after slaughtering the competition last week.

Thursday 05/20/2010
American Idol is down to two, but our blogger is only rooting for one
Posted: May 20, 2010 - 6:45 am

Casey James is going to have plenty of time to personally answer all of the text messages he said he has neglected recently. Because on Wednesday night, the American Idol voters voted for what I have been saying for most of the season was inevitable - a Lee DeWyze/Crystal Bowersox final.

Wednesday 05/19/2010
Three contestants still remain, but our blogger thinks Lee DeWyze has already won the “Idol” crown
Posted: May 19, 2010 - 7:15 am

Tuesday night's episode of American Idol was probably the most meaningless of the season. But it was in that episode we received two of the best performances of the season - by the same person.

“Big Mike" gets eliminated as American Idol’s Top 3 is set

DeWyze & Bowersox's duet is the highlight of an otherwise "alright" American Idol
Posted: May 12, 2010 - 7:15 am

The final four American Idol contestants met Jamie Foxx on Tuesday night, and all they got were some lousy t-shirts.

Thursday 05/06/2010
Our “Idol” blogger is shocked, but thankful, that voters kept Casey James
Posted: May 06, 2010 - 7:30 am

Instead of going back home to Texas to play gigs for $50 and a plate of free food, Casey James probably left the American Idol stage Wednesday night and went directly to Las Vegas.

Wednesday 05/05/2010
Our American Idol blogger thinks Casey James "screwed up" this week
Posted: May 05, 2010 - 7:30 am

As American Idol came out of commercial break prior to Casey James' performance, the microphones caught this week's mentor Harry Connick, Jr. telling James not to "screw it up."

Thursday 04/29/2010
Our "Idol" blogger was right about Magnus, but warns more difficult choices are ahead
Posted: April 29, 2010 - 7:30 am

I went two out of three on my "locks" for the Bottom 3 and, thanks to the American Idol voters, I correctly predicted that Siobhan Magnus would get eliminated.

Wednesday 04/28/2010
Our blogger fears an “Idol” favorite could be in trouble after a solid all-around week.
Posted: April 28, 2010 - 6:30 am

When Crystal Bowersox gets the worst critiques from the American Idol judges, it is a sign that the rest of the contestants stepped up their game.

Thursday 04/22/2010
"Idol Gives Back" grants our blogger's wish by sending Urban home
Posted: April 22, 2010 - 7:00 am

It is a great day and we have American Idol and, surprisingly, its voters to thank for it.

Wednesday 04/21/2010
Our Blogger thinks American Idol's "sandwich" was all bun
Posted: April 21, 2010 - 7:30 am

Tuesday night's episode of American Idol was like a sandwich where only the bun was worth eating.

Thursday 04/15/2010
Our blogger is happy that Garcia and Stevens were voted off Idol
Posted: April 15, 2010 - 7:30 am

It took the largest vote of the season - a total of more than 34 million votes cast - for the American Idol voters to finally send home two of the weakest contestants in Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens.

Wednesday 04/14/2010
Ryan Seacrest's antics highlight American Idol's Elvis Week
Posted: April 14, 2010 - 8:15 am

Someone must have slipped something into Ryan Seacrest's low-fat mocha latte Tuesday night, as the American Idol host's behavior during Elvis Week was nothing short of bizarre.

Thursday 04/08/2010
Judges save “Big Mike,” but our Idol blogger doesn’t think they should've had to
Posted: April 08, 2010 - 4:45 am

Ryan Seacrest opened Wednesday night's show by warning us to "be prepared for a surprise or two" - two was about right.

James and DeWyze "Help!" to keep the Top 9 afloat during Lennon/McCartney Week
Posted: April 07, 2010 - 7:30 am

What is arguably the worst American Idol Top 9 in the series’ history took on the catalog of the best song writing duo of all time - John Lennon and Paul McCartney - on Tuesday night. The result… mediocrity at best.

The Top 10 "Idol" finalists impress during R&B Week - for the most part
Posted: March 31, 2010 - 7:00 am

Wow. Someone must have fed the American Idol contestants their Wheaties prior to their performances Tuesday night. If not a bowl of Wheaties, at least a PowerBar or a bran muffin.

Thursday 03/25/2010
American Idol’s Top 10 is set, as Paige Miles gets sent home

Wednesday 03/24/2010
The “Idol” contestants hit a new low under Miley Cyrus’ tutelage
Posted: March 24, 2010 - 7:30 am

I bet that the American Idol contestants wish that it had been Hannah Montana and not her alter ego Miley Cyrus who was their mentor Tuesday night during Billboard No. 1 Hits Week. Because even if their only guidance had come from a fictional Disney character, things couldn't have gone much worse for the contestants - or viewers - than they did Tuesday night.

Thursday 03/18/2010
American Idol voters get it wrong – again
Posted: March 18, 2010 - 3:00 am

The American Idol voters better wake up soon, or this could very easily go down as the worst season in the show's tenure. And it would be a disappointing way for Simon's reign to end, because the show will never be the same once he leaves at season's end.

The Top 12 “Idol” contestants don’t satisfy our blogger during Rolling Stones week
Posted: March 17, 2010 - 7:00 am

The Top 12 American Idol contestants got a crash course in the difficulties of performing on a large stage Tuesday night when they tackled the song catalog of the Rolling Stones and the Idol main stage for the first time.
