The first day of fall sports practices started under a dark, rainy sky today.

Soccer and football teams ran through the mud on Monday morning as high hopes ran through their head about the upcoming season.

The teams all start with the same record, so even winners and losers from last season have to forget about what happened.

For the football teams, this was the first day in pads. Training camp started with an idea of just how difficult the next couple of weeks are going to be.

"It's great to be back out here with the guys even if we had a little hiccup with the weather," Egg Harbor Township High School football coach Tony De Rosa said. "The first day is always fun."

Most of the football teams starting with two-a-day workouts. The players sprinted, ran drills went through plays, and then sprinted some more.

But the best part of getting back on the field for many of the footballers was being able to hit someone again.

"It feels nice," Holy Spirit running back Nigel Jones said. "It's good to be back."
