College athletics scholarship offers start trickling in around this time for football players. Schools contact them to let them they will offer an official letter later in the year.

But one area high school standout hasn't heard yet from any Division I schools.

Holy Spirit junior Donta Pollock hasn't been contacted by any schools.

"I'm not thinking about that yet," Pollock said. "I just want the state championship right now."

According to Holy Spirit coach Charlie Roman, Pollock means that too. But he thinks part of the lack in interest in Pollack so far has been because of junior Nigel Jones.

"I'm surprised he hasn't heard anything," Roman said. "But Nigel had a great freshman and sophomore year."

Jones said Rutgers plans to offer him a scholarship. Last season, Jones had 1,033 yards in 187 carries with a Cape-Atlantic League leading 19 touchdowns. He was the fourth best rusher in the CAL.

But Pollack wasn't that far behind him. Pollock rushed for 906 yards on 152 carries with 12 touchdowns for sixth in the league.

Holy Spirit is having a great season so far with a 4-0 start and just came off a 35-0 win over St. Joseph. Pollock had 80 rushing yards and 24 carries against the Wildcats.

"It'll happen for him," Jones said.
