Darren Ford and Matt Szczur were assigned to minor-league camp this week.

Ford, an outfielder with the Seattle Mariners, was re-assigned to Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday. In six games, Ford, from Vineland, was 4-for-8 with two walks, two stolen bases and two RBI.

Chicago Cubs' farmhand Matt Szczur, a Lower Township resident, was assigned to Double-A Tennessee today. In six spring training games, Szczur was 2-for-8 with an RBI.

Angels' prospect Mike Trout has yet to play in a game this spring, but has been cleared to resume running after dealing with a virus that has caused him to lose 10 pounds. The Orange County Register wrote the Millville resident suffered from stiffness in his legs and shoulder following a Tuesday workout.
