Villanova University wide receiver Norman White is out for the season with a foot injury, Villanova coach Andy Talley said.

White, a St. Joseph High School graduate, injured his foot in preseason camp and needed an MRI to diagnose a lisfranc injury, which is in the middle of the foot. He will be a medical redshirt this year and come back for a fifth year in 2012.

"We are very disappointed for Norman. He is a premier player in our league who looked poised for another big season," Talley said. "The silver lining is that we will be able to get Norman healthy and have him back for next year."

The Mays Landing resident was on the radar as a prospect for next year's NFL first-year draft after last season's performance. He had 886 yards and 11 touchdowns on 69 catches, and was a first team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection. He was named to the preseason first team this year as well.

Villanova opens the season against Temple tonight.
