ATLANTIC CITY — Tickets for Garden State Comic Fest: AC Edition, a new comics convention announced earlier this year for the resort, will go on sale 11 a.m. Thursday, organizers wrote Wednesday evening on Facebook.

The convention is scheduled for April 7-8, 2018, at Showboat Atlantic City.

Tickets will be $29.99 for Saturday only, $19.99 for Sunday only, $39.99 for both days, $90 for VIP tickets and free for children under 13.

VIP tickets are limited to 100 and include access to special events and "some very awesome items," organizers wrote on Facebook. Tickets purchased within the next week will have taxes and fees covered by the show, according to the Facebook post.

So far, three guests have been announced for the show: Jim Steranko, a comics artist known for his psychedelic work on titles such as Marvel's "Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD" in the 1960s; Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; and Greg Hildebrandt, one-half of a pair of twins known for their painted movie posters, comics covers and trading cards.

Garden State Comic Fest is an expansion of an existing comics show held annually in Morristown that this year drew 7,000 people, according to co-organizer Dave O'Hare. It fills a void left by the departure of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Con, held in 2015 and 2016, and this past summer's Atlantic City Fan Xpo, which was cut short after a few weeks in the Showboat.
