VINELAND - The Sweet Life Bakery in the city's downtown will be recognized next month by the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers during its annual Success Awards luncheon.
The award is given to small businesses that were nominated by their local SBDCs, which are part of a nonprofit network with 11 locations throughout the state, including at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in Galloway Township. The centers give advice and guidance to new entrepreneurs and are funded in part by the state and federal governments.
Husband and wife Stephen Wilson and Jill McClennen opened the Sweet Life Bakery with help from Stockton's SBDC two years ago. Since then, the bakery has been recognized in various magazines and helped to expand the Jersey Fresh marketing program to include bakeries and restaurants.
The awards luncheon "allows us to recognize the efforts and success of small businesses in the state, and to share their stories about the power of ideas, vision and perseverance," said Brenda Hopper, state director of the NJSBDC in Newark.
The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, Middlesex County.
