ATLANTIC CITY - A new award has been created to honor the memory of a gaming supervisor who was gunned down last month while working at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort.
The Raymond Kot Award will be part of the Host Awards given out annually by the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority in recognition of top employees in the hospitality and casino industries.
Kot, who had worked in Atlantic City's gaming industry since its inception in 1978, was a shift supervisor at the Taj Mahal. The award bearing his name will go to the winner of the "Best Casino Games Personnel" category.
"Ray Kot was a veteran gaming employee who was respected by all who knew and worked with him through the years. It will be an honor to his memory to present an Atlantic City casino games employee with this prestigious award," said Mark Juliano, chief executive officer of Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. and a member of the convention authority's board.
Kot, 57, was shot May 27 in an office just off the casino floor. Mark Magee, a casino customer from Norristown, Pa., has been charged with murder and weapons offenses.
