ATLANTIC CITY - A former Atlantic City gaming executive has been fired as president and chief operating officer of an unfinished Las Vegas casino project that is looking for new buyers after falling into bankruptcy.

Audrey S. Oswell was among seven executives who were "terminated" by the Fontainebleau resort, the company said in court papers Thursday.

Fontainebleau, a 4,000-room casino hotel on the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip, is about 70 percent built and needs new financing if it is ever to be finished. Developers have been trying to sell the project to Penn National Gaming Inc. or another party.

Oswell joined Fontainebleau last year after leaving another troubled Las Vegas project, the Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino, which is under construction on the Strip after being purchased by Deutsche Bank in a foreclosure sale.

Prior to heading to Las Vegas, Oswell served as president of Resorts Atlantic City and before that was president of Caesars Atlantic City.

All the employees were let go because the property filed bankruptcy as employee contracts were canceled by a judge and the property was ordered to be sold. To run a headline about Ms Oswell is pretty obnoxious of The Press. While true that she lost her job, why publicize an unfortunate situation?

Is there any reason anyone would care about this? Maybe I've missed the importance of this article.
