HARRISBURG, Pa. - Revenue at Pennsylvania's nine slot parlors jumped 32 percent in October, once again showing they are siphoning away business from the Atlantic City casinos.

Slot revenue came in at $177.1 million for the month, compared to $134.2 million for the same period last year, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported.

October's results were helped by the grand opening of the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem in May and the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh in August. In October 2008, there were seven slot parlors open.

Philadelphia Park Casino and Racetrack led the pack in October, with nearly $29.6 million in revenue. Harrah's Chester Casino and Racetrack, the Meadows Racetrack and Casino and Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse all posted more than $20 million in revenue.

Pennsylvania is the main rival for Atlantic City's 11 casino hotels. Atlantic City's revenue has been in a steady decline while Pennsylvania's has been tracking upward.

The New Jersey Casino Control Commission will report Atlantic City's revenue for October next Tuesday.

Why is it that when AC does poor it's the recession and when PA does great they're stealing AC's business? Same recession, right? But Pennsylvania is doing great, Yonkers NY slots, clean and smoke free doing very well indeed and AC is circling the drain? What are they going to do now that Ohio voters approved casino gambling??? Foxwoods now has a new CEO and will be back on track to open in Philly!! Sad, really sad. Ciao.

What do you expect. If I live in PA. and have $100.00 to spend on gaming why would I spend half of that money on expressway tolls, high gas prices and outrageous A.C. parking fees? This is the reality as to why revenues are down in A.C and also the fact that it is unsafe to visit here anymore.

Will A.C.'s funeral have an open casket, or is the city-corpse too disfigured by years of abuse by its black folk and white trash for one final look? Gosh, those "shoobies" sure ate A.C.'s lunch, eh?
