Hotel group to hold gala dinner dance

The Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association will hold its annual Gala Dinner Dance at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Royal Swan Ballroom at Tropicana Casino and Resort.

The event is the major fundraiser for the ACHLA Scholarship Foundation, which has awarded $275,000 to area students pursuing hospitality, culinary or tourism careers.

A cocktail reception will be followed by dinner and music by The Replicants. A silent auction will offer artwork, jewelry, sport items, photos and overnight stays.

The ACHLA will also install its 2013 officers and board of directors, and present the following awards for outstanding service.

  • Allied Member of the Year — Atlantic City Linen Supply
  • Casino Executive of the Year — Tony Rodio, Tropicana Entertainment Inc.
  • Change Maker of the Year — Tilman Fertitta, Landry’s Inc.
  • Hotel Professional of the Year — Jose Diaz, Caesars Atlantic City and Bally’s Atlantic City
  • Hotelier of the Year — Mark Vanderwielen, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa/The Water Club
  • Restaurateur of the Year — Garces Group

The master of ceremonies is Lloyd D. Levenson.

Press business editor at Somers Point group

The Somers Point Business Association will host its next monthly breakfast meeting at 8 a.m. April 10 at Greate Bay County Club, 901 Mays Landing Road in Somers Point.

Azotea partner of A.C. law firm

David Azotea has been named a partner of the Atlantic City law firm of Levine, Staller, Sklar, Chan, Brown & Donnelly PA.

Azotea’s practice includes employment law, commercial litigation and construction litigation. He joined the firm as an associate in 2006 after working for a private firm in Sea Girt, Monmouth County, and as an assistant public defender in Jacksonville, Fla.

He is a graduate of Ursinus College and the Florida Coastal School of Law.

Cape Chamber plans Biz @ Beach Expo

The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce’s 24th annual Business @ the Beach Expo is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. April 24.

The largest business networking event in Cape May County is expected to draw 100 exhibitors and 500 business people.

The New Jersey Business Action Center will offer information on programs and incentives to help businesses grow.

The expo will be held in the Starlight Ballroom at the Wildwoods Convention Center.
