Construction has started on a new McDonald’s restaurant on East Broad Street in Bridgeton that is expected to open in late August.
The restaurant will be owned and operated by Elmer and Anna-Ford Keels, formerly of New York and since 2010 of the Philadelphia area, a McDonald’s spokeswoman said.
The restaurant is expected to create 50 new jobs, she said.
More than 80 percent of the 14,000 U.S. McDonald's restaurants are independently owned and operated by local franchisees.
There are nearly 300 McDonald’s restaurants in the greater Philadelphia region.
