The New Eastern Health Center offers acupuncture and herbal medicine. We most often treat for pain management, but we can address many different health concerns, such as digestive issues and neurological diseases such as headaches and vertigo. We work as well with women’s health issues such as hot flashes and menopause.

Acupuncture is very effective in stress and emotional disorders, for anxiety and depression and the like.

My associate and I have master’s degrees in traditional Oriental medicine conferred by accredited colleges, and we’re also certified by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for practice as an acupuncturist and an herbalist.

We’re also registered and licensed by the state Medical Board of Examiners for practice in acupuncture.

Acupuncture treatment involves placing very fine, sterile and disposable needles into the skin at various points, after which the patient relaxes for about 30 minutes.

The treatments are enjoyable and not painful. The idea is that we’re stimulating the body’s ability to heal itself.

All of the herbs we use are FDA-approved and third-party tested for purity and potency. We’re trained to consider a patient’s existing prescription medications when administering herbal medicines.

Entry: I grew up in the area and returned after training and certification, opening a small office in Cape May Court House. Within four years, we were able to purchase the current building right on Main Street. We did extensive work on the new building, quite a challenge to my skills, but we’re really proud of it.

We doubled our square footage and now we have four treatment rooms instead of two.

We brought in another acupuncturist, Edmund Gibson, of North Wildwood. Business has been great and our growth has continued.

Treatments range from $65 to $80, depending on various factors. Usually a course of treatment is involved for a condition, rather than a one-time thing, to get the desired outcome.

Future plans: To be quite honest, when a business person begins, they have a dream. It’s nice to be able to say we’ve reached that vision. We’re where we wanted to be.
