Heisler Training Systems trains athletes and general fitness clients, anybody who is interested in personal training.

A big thing we do that separates us from many others is we like to educate our clients. Most people don’t have more than three hours to give a trainer per week. So we try to teach our clients things they can do on their own to help reach their goals. One main thing we teach all of our clients is about rest, the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. We also teach about nutrition.

We train a lot of athletes, and I like to give them extra things they can do outside the gym on their own time, such as stretches. Another thing we’re offering all of our clients are additional services that are not paid. For example, this morning I sent an email to all of them that I’d be on the beach in Avalon at 10:30 a.m., and anyone who showed up we did a workout together. We did a quick 20-minute sprint session.

The key is to give all of our clients something extra, a way of making sure they’re doing more on their off days.

We have a 20-yard indoor turf area, sleds and medicine balls. We have a large jungle gym-like apparatus that we use for suspension training and TRX, things like that. We also have kettle bells, which are weights with large handles.

Entry: I have been training athletes from fifth grade to the professional ranks in the South Jersey area for the past five years.

Francesca Kelleher, of Dennis Township, runs our boot camp program. She recently graduated from the National Personal Training Institute with a 500-hour certificate. She is a certified kettle bell and speed training specialist.

In college I played hockey and I’d always wanted to be a professional athlete. When I realized that wouldn’t happen, I wanted to find a way to stay in sports, and I found that personal training would be a good fit.

I attended Richard Stockton College, majoring in marketing. When this opportunity arose, I went for it right away.

The future: I would like to hire more staff and create departments for weight loss, athletes and such with specialized trainers in each.
