Lexy’s Hair Affair is a hair salon for men, women and children. We do all types of hair. We offer hair coloring, cutting, highlighting, keratin treatments, weaves and braids, and we do waxing, makeup and facials.

Updos are popular with women right now. A lot of people are doing natural hair, such as Locs and dreads. The keratin treatment is a big thing. That’s a smoothing and straightening treatment. You just put it in, wash it out, and we blow dry your hair. It’s not like a hard chemical, but healthier for the hair.

For coloring and highlighting, we use Matrix and Joico products. Two of our stylists are color certified.

A weave is added into your hair to extend it or make it fuller. We don’t provide hair here, so clients bring their own natural or synthetic hair weaves and we apply them.

Box braids and corn rows are the popular braiding styles.

For men, we offer standard cutting, starting at $15, and $10 for little boys. Washing and cutting hair for girls starts at $25. Makeup and facials are offered by appointment. Waxing is available to walk-ins.

Entry: I own this and other businesses, as well. I’m not one of the stylists. I’m an accountant.

I decided to start this business because we’re Egg Harbor City residents, and we didn’t have a salon to service the various ethnic groups. There had been one — I was getting my hair done at it — but its life was brief.

I saw an opportunity and wanted to have something my daughter could take an interest in when she’s older. She can learn it from the ground up. She’s interested in being an accountant.

It’s a good thing for the community, for her and for stylists in the area who were looking for employment.

The future: We would like to expand to nail service, and maybe after three years expand to a larger building and become a spa and salon, offering services such as massages and custom wigs.

We’re planning our grand opening celebration at noon today.
