The focus of Daja Salon is excellence in customer service and artistry.

We have constant education for the staff to keep up with the latest trends.

This salon used to be in the Ventnor Plaza, and when we relocated to Wellington Plaza, we made the move ourselves.

The old location was an existing salon that we just took over and couldn’t do everything the way that we wanted.

With this location, we were able to build from the ground up and kind of reinvent ourselves.

Everything is brand spanking new, with the latest equipment. We’re right on the bay, with more windows and more of an open feeling. We’re being better received in this location.

Daja is a full-service salon, offering everything in cosmetology.

We do manicures, pedicures, body waxing, airbrush makeup, Brazilian blow out and, of course, we specialize in wedding and prom parties.

We do men’s, women’s, children’s precision cuts. This is a multicultural salon that makes all hair types beautiful.

A couple of our stylists are master stylists and master colorists, a prestigious title in our industry, who provide the latest in coloring and highlighting.

The salon manager, David Velasco, of Brigantine, is also a national educator, and he has his master’s degree in cutting and coloring. He’s also the in-house educator.

We’re partners and the name Daja derives from an acronym of our names.

We use Enjoy hair care products, which are made in the U.S.

We also offer another American product, called Keepers of the Light, scented candles made in Elmer, Gloucester County.

Entry: I started off at the Taj Mahal, fresh out of high school. Over a 16-year period, I worked my way up to management, in food and beverage, and in customer service.

I was ready for a change, and with David’s talent and my customer service background, we went into business together.

The future: We’re involving the salon with a lot of charities and would like to host more events in the salon.
