The Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association will hold its 22nd annual Installation and Award Gala on Nov. 19 in Atlantic City at Resorts Casino Hotel.

The gala will salute the late Dennis Gomes for his lifelong achievements in the casino industry and community contributions in the region.

Gomes, 68, of Margate, died Feb. 24 from complications of kidney dialysis. He had an illustrious career in the casino industry in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. At the time of his death, Gomes was the CEO and co-owner of Resorts, which he bought in December 2010.

“He was truly a remarkable man of vision and heart. We are proud to salute his accomplishments with the MBCA Community Spirit Award,” the association said in a statement, adding the Gomes family will accept the award.

The MBCA said it has given more than $300,000 to local charities and $100,000 in scholarships, and its fundraiser helps continue its work in the greater Atlantic City area.

The Master of Ceremonies is Lloyd Levenson, of the Cooper Levenson law firm. Mayor Lorenzo Langford will install officers and new board members.
