The storms and power outages of the past couple of years have reminded business owners that their ability to remain open is sometimes up in the air.

As it happens, that's also where the answer can be found - in the cloud - to prepare for disaster and ensure business continuity.

On Wednesday at the Point Diner in Somers Point, vice president and chief information officer of Perfect Solutions in Northfield, will discuss "Backup Disaster Recovery" with members and guests of the Somers Point Business Association.

Stephen Vogt will discuss ways to use the online network of computers, often called the cloud, to respond quickly to disaster and restore business systems and data.

Vogt will explain what backup disaster recovery involves and how it affects all businesses.

Perfect Solutions Software is a full-service IT company that specializes in serving small- and medium-sized businesses and helping residential customers with their information technology needs.

For businesses, the firm designs, creates and maintains network infrastructure and Internet phone systems.

Charity mixer

The Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association will network to benefit Seashore Gardens Living Center, beneficiary of its annual Winter Charity Mixer.

The MBCA will hold the event at 5 p.m. Monday at Sofia Restaurant in Margate.

The association said Seashore Gardens is dedicated to enriching the quality of life for older residents in the region, through health care and services. The event is sponsored by AtlantiCare.
