The main focus of Scout Clothing and Decor is women's clothing. We carry boutique brands that we try to keep exclusive to the area so we have clothing you can't find anywhere else. We also offer some shoes and accessories, home decor items such as pillows and candles, and gift items.
The clothing is mainly contemporary. We like to call it comfy casual. You look really good but also feel really good.
Our main brands are James Jeans, Free People, Wildfox and Jeffrey Campbell.
The jeans are premium denim handcrafted in Los Angeles to fit a woman's body. They're ultra stretchy, made from cotton and spandex. We carry them in styles such as the skinny-legged Twiggy and an ultra-flare denim.
Free People has been around many years, with their own stores. We select exclusive items to bring that Philadelphia style to the shore.
Wildfox, also out of L.A., specializes in quirky, printed clothing. One popular item is the baggy beach jumper, a cross between a sweatshirt and a sweater. They usually have prints and patterns.
Jeffrey Campbell is our shoe line, another Los Angeles firm. They're made to order and each season we pick out the styles we want. We have funky styles such as the Lita, an ultra-high-heeled boot, and we also carry their ballet flats.
Our price points range from $22 to as high as $300. We like to say we have something for everyone. We cater to all age groups, 12 and up.
We have pillows that are hand-knitted and seasonal, so we have fall themes such as owls and spiders, and later we'll have holiday pillows. We also carry a great line of candles called Paddywax, which come in a variety of scents and styles. They make great gifts and are priced at $10 to $28.
We're open year-round, and have new merchandise every week.
Entry: I graduated from LIM College in New York, moved back home and started looking for locations. In February of this year we moved to Margate.
Future plans: We hope to get bigger, growing in this location.
