Area small businesses — especially those owned by veterans — have an opportunity next week to connect with government and large-business purchasers of products and services.
On Thursday, the New Jersey Institute of Technology will hold its Small Business Procurement Fair in the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City. Buyers from the government and corporations will forecast their future purchasing needs.
“This fair, held every three years, offers a fabulous opportunity for small New Jersey businesses to market directly to governmental agency representatives from the mid-Atlantic states,” Dolcey E. Chaplin, director of NJIT’s Defense Procurement Technical Assistance Center, said in a statement. “At this event, you will find website names transforming into real individuals who can explain and describe their agency or corporation’s culture and mission — what it buys, who to contact and more.”
Attendees will include the Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir, Va.; Defense Supply Center, Pennsyl-vania; Naval Surface Weapon Center; Navy Fleet and Industrial Supply; Naval Air Station Lakehurst; McGuire Air Force Base and Fort Dix. Also represented will be the Army Corps of Engineers, Veterans Affairs, FEMA, the FAA and the IRS. Corporations include Sanofi, Novartis and ITT.

American Cut, a modern American steakhouse located in Revel casino hotel, will host the Greater Atlantic City Chamber’s networking mixer on Wednesday.
American Cut is led by Iron Chef Marc Forgione. The restaurant is named in honor of his father, Chef Larry Forgione, who became known for his New York City restaurant, An American Place. Marc Forgione’s restaurant in New York has won the Michelin star three consecutive years.
