My objective is to provide parents with a solution for safe and natural baby clothing that is a worthy investment.

The inspiration behind Turnovers was to accommodate parents who don't know whether they're having a boy or a girl. So it inspired me to create reversible clothing that is suitable for either gender.

I decided to go all the way and make an eco-baby line. The fabrics are 50 percent from soybean fiber, so it's a cotton-soybean-fiber blend. It's noticeably softer than any other cotton blend on the market. I'm using applique and embroidery techniques, which can be washed many times without fading, unlike prints. My slogan is "Reversible, sustainable, adorable."

I'm also now making reversibles with both sides for boys, and both sides for girls. My first collection will be very small. I'm only going to provide onesies and pants sets, zip-up hoodies and bibs.

At turnoversbabyshop.com, customers can preorder products with free shipping until June 29.

I'm participating in the Mays Landing Hometown Celebration on June 29 and 30, as my grand opening. I'll have a tent and products there ready for cash sales.

I'm working with agents in California who are visiting the factory on my behalf to make sure all of my standards are being upheld.

My prices are comparable to other organic and eco-baby clothing lines. They fall into the moderate to better pricing categories. Onesies and hoodies will cost between $42 and $45 on the website.

Entry: My experience as a mother made me realize there was a niche, so I decided to use my background in fashion design in Manhattan to create baby clothing.

I sought crowd funding through Kickstarter with a video and my project raised more than $10,000 and piqued the interest of many future customers. My backers will get clothing as reward for their pledges.

The future: Our products also will be carried by three boutiques this summer: Kidrageous in Margate, Bee Well Boutique & Spa in Linwood and Pails & Posies, an online boutique in Rhode Island.
