Business: Shear Bliss
Location: 2204 Bayshore Road, Villas, Lower Township
Owner: Jeanine Eliason, 28, of the Villas
Shear Bliss was Heather's Hair Salon, a family run business. My boss and her mother worked there, and I started working there about five years ago.
Everything is very family oriented and a lot of families come in together, and I want to keep that family feel.
We do hair cutting, coloring, perms, straightening, and we do waxing as well.
We mostly use Paul Mitchell products, but we also have Chi and Goldwell products.
We offer cuts for all ages, male and female.
Our prices are pretty average. A cut and coloring is $67. A typical cut and blow dry is $30. For a cut only, the price is $15.
Straightening is popular now, and we have other clients who get perms.
Entry: When I got out of cosmetology school, my mom was going to Heather's to have her hair done. Owner Heather Layton-Pilatsky said to bring me in when I got my cosmetology license and we'll hire her. I've been working here ever since.
Heather and her mother are retiring, and she asked me if she could give her book of clients to me. I could either take over the shop or take them to another salon.
I decided to take the risk and try owning the salon. It's not every day that something like this can happen.
I'm mostly keeping everything the same for now. Maybe in the winter, when things quiet down, I'll probably redecorate and repaint, but for now everything's staying the same.
I love the feeling of making people feel better about themselves. Seeing their face after I finish their hair, it's a very good feeling.
Sometimes it's hard to figure out what people might like, but that doesn't happen very often.
We take appointments and walk-ins. We're open Tuesday through Saturday.
The future: Another girl and I work here now and we have three stations in the salon, so I'm looking to add another stylist.
