Maybe it’s a just coincidence. But Robert Yaskin’s house in Linwood has had two owners and they’ve both been dentists. The house was built in 1988 by a retired dentist from Philadelphia. Robert, himself a dentist, bought it in 2000.

“It’s kind of interesting that the first owner was a dentist and I’m a dentist,” say Robert who has offices in Ocean City and Vineland.

You don’t have to be a dentist to appreciate Robert’s 3-bedroom, 2½-bath contemporary, which sits on a ¾-acre lot and has nearly 2,700 square feet of living space.

For one thing, it’s located in Linwood’s prestigious Gold Coast neighborhood and borders the meadowlands and bay that extend all the way to Absecon Island. And it was the location more than anything that attracted Robert to the house 17 years ago. At the time he was living in an apartment in Ocean City, where he operated his dental practice.

“The Gold Coast at the southern end of Linwood is an excellent neighborhood. It’s very safe and a lot of professionals choose to live there,” Robert says. “It has beautiful views of the marsh and it’s away from the street with a long private driveway. It’s also wonderful area for birds and wildlife. I’ll see bald eagles on occasion, ospreys, red winged blackbirds, gold finches.”

The houses clean contemporary design and open floor plan was also appealing to Robert.

“The original owners modeled it after a home where they vacationed in the Caribbean,” he says. “It’s designed so most of the living space has views of the marshland. You can look out and see all the way to Margate and Longport.

“It was a large home but not gargantuan,” he adds. “I really love the natural cedar siding. And the open floor plan on the first floor is great for entertaining.”

Over the years Robert has made a number of improvements to the house.

“I put a lot into it,” he says. “I put in hardwood floor downstairs and bamboo floors on the second floor. I recently upgraded he kitchen, put on a new roof, installed a new heating system and a new tile floor on the second floor. I moved the laundry room to the second floor.”

The front door opens to an entrance hall brightened by t hree skylights and featuring a hardwood floor with marble insets. The updated kitchen has 42-inch cherry cabinets, granite counters, a center island, stainless steel appliances and a breakfast nook. The living room overlooks the meadows and has a double sided fireplace. There’s also a den and a sitting room.

The second floor is devoted to the huge master suite with sweeping views of the meadowlands, a large laundry room and two spacious walk-in closets. The master bath has a walk-in shower, whirlpool tub and double sinks. Two spacious storage attics are insulated with foam and are equipped with electrical service that Robert added.

There’s a large mahogany deck on the first floor and a fiberglass balcony on the second floor. A two-car attached garage is entered from the side. Other amenities include an irrigation system with a private well and a central vac system.

Robert, who is originally from Wynnewood, Pa., also owns a home in the Vineland area, where he plans to live full time when he sells his house in Linwood.

“I love living there. It’s been a wonderful home,” he says. “I don’t have kids but the public schools are excellent. But I no longer really require a home in Vineland and Linwood.”

An open house at this property, which is located at 209 E. Seaview Ave. in Linwood and listed for $399,900, will be held Sunday, Feb. 26, from noon to 3 p.m. For more information call Catherine Colfver of Balsley Losco Real Estate, 609-377-4107.
