Tess Nelson, of Absecon, picked up an old coffee to-go cup and prepared to toss it into a trash bag during the cleanup. ‘I used to bike ride up here, and I used to see a bunch of stuff on the side of the road,’ she said.

On Oct. 10, Amy Marie DeFeo, of Absecon, who is the manager of the California Apartments, helped clean up the marsh by the bridge on New Road in Absecon. DeFeo said less trash was found Wednesday than during last year’s cleanup.

Empty glass bottles were a common find along the marsh on New Road in Absecon. The group filled eight bags with bottles and cans and 17 bags with trash.
