Absecon police were searching for a man who impersonated a police officer Monday to pull over an SUV on Route 30.

Detective Leigh Gadd said the victim, a 24-year-old Brigantine woman, wasn’t injured or robbed during the stop, which occurred near the intersection of Turner Avenue at 10:45 p.m.

“Getting away this first time could possibly embolden him to take more drastic steps,” Gadd said Saturday.

Gadd said the suspect pulled the victim over using flashing emergency lights.

Police are currently looking into a “few different possibilities,” but he said the department is hoping someone will spot the man and come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Gadd at 609-641-0667, ext. 216, or Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.
