Philadelphia Mural Project presentation set
The Absecon Community Affairs and Absecon Cultural Arts Alliance are co-hosting a presentation on the City of Philadelphia Mural Project at 7 p.m. April 8, at the Emma C. Attales School Library on Ireland Avenue.
The Mural Arts Program began in 1984 as a component of the Philadelphia Anti-Graffiti Network, an effort led by then-Mayor Wilson Goode to eradicate the graffiti crisis plaguing the city. The Anti-Graffiti Network hired muralist Jane Golden to reach out to graffiti writers and to redirect their energies from destructive graffiti writing to constructive mural painting.
The presentation is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Call JoAnn Elco at 609-646-4490.
