Absecon to honor 9-11 victims

The Absecon Community Affairs Committee, chaired by Councilwoman Sandy Cain, has finalized its plans for Absecon’s 9-11 ceremony.

The event will take place at the Public Safety Park adjacent to the Firehouse at 6 p.m. Sept. 10. Air National Guard Senior Master Sgt. Michael Monteith will be the master of ceremonies. The program commences when Joseph Lavis, Navy Boatswain of VFW Post 9462, places a call to order. The Absecon Blue Devils Cheerleading Squad will place 350 flags, each representing 10 people who died in the 9-11 attacks. For information, call Cain at 609-645-0572.

Historic Walking Tours set

The annual Walking Tour of Historic Absecon will take place Sept. 14, with tours starting at 11 a.m., 12 noon, 1 and 2 p.m. Visitors can sign in at Howlett Hall, 100 New Jersey Ave., starting at 10:30 a.m. The tour is free and open to the public. The Howlett Hall Museum will be open 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
