ATLANTIC CITY -- More of the Boardwalk along the Absecon Inlet collapsed this afternoon in front of the Flagship high-rise condominium complex at Gramercy Place.

Police saw a 40-foot section had given way at Gramercy and Maine Avenue, and notified the city's Public Works division around 4:40 p.m., director Paul Jerkins said.

Atlantic City officials have otherwise spent the more than $11 million in taxes they’ve raised during the past decade to fix the elevated wooden walkway subject to intense weathering at the northern tip of the island.
